Time for the business end of the season

by Gavin on May 17, 2010

After 14 rounds, only 4 teams remain at the top of the table. The Bulls are looking to go back to back, while the Crusaders are looking for a record 8th title.

Unfortunately it will be in the early hours of this Sunday morning due to the Bulls and Stormers hosting the 2 semi finals.

  • Sunday, 1am AEST: Bulls vs Crusaders, Orlando Stadium
  • Sunday, 3am AEST: Stormers vs Waratahs, Newlands Stadium

The Bulls look set to include their 13 star players, missing from their controversial loss to the Stormers in Round 14. However they may lose Bakkies Botha through suspension, due to a dangerous ruck entry.

The Waratahs are the only Australian providence through to the knockout rounds, for their 4th time in 6 years. It seems unlikely they’ll obtain a home final. To do so, they need to beat the Stormers and the Crusaders to beat the Bulls. It’s worth noting that they failed to beat both the Stormers and the Bulls this year, in South Africa. More importantly, no Australian side has won a playoff match in South Africa.

Rebels bound Adam Freier has been called into the Waratahs squad.

If I was to have a bet, I’d put money on an All South African final, with the Bulls going back to back.
