I too thought the membership was a bit high, think I will stick to purchasing tickets on game day.
Would have thought that Victoria Rugby would have factored that Melbourne have another 3 codes of major sports competition to contend with.
I for one can not take up memebrships @ all codes , so have chosen to stick to AFL membership instead.

I think people need to stop whining and realize that if you want the best seats, you have to be prepared to pay for them.

Did people honestly think they were going to get smack bang at the half way line for $40 a match?

Why would you want to sit there anyway, all the fun is going to be at the Yarra River end.

I do not think I will become a member, I will just buy general admission tickets. I doubt they will cost $80 for a game. If they do then I will again have to look at moving to Brisbane to see some rugby union. Was hoping for better deals etc.

Was also looking at buying a Rebels jersey but not in that design. I will just have to keep wearing the old rebels blue and white stripped jersey.

$430 minimum for a reserved seat in the field of play sucks.

Not buying, sorry, if you want support price it better.

I'll keep paying for a Chiefs membership and fly there instead.

Hmmm... these packages don't look as good second time round. I seem to remember earlier talk of playing jerseys in the packages, but this seems to have been replaced with scarves and polo shirts? Also, paying at least $53 a game just to be seated in line with the field of play (i.e. not behind the posts or behind the try line) is getting a little tough to swallow...
I'm hoping there's going to be extras included in membership deals released tomorrow...

mmmm I think you're forgetting that NZ has between 200,000 - 400,000 people living in Aussie, and a lot are in Melbourne. They watch the other sports as sports fanatics do (AFL, Soccer and League) but it's rugby that's in their veins.
They'll be supporting the Rebels every week against SA, Other Aussie and most NZ teams ( unless it's their 'home' team playing), and a lot like me will look at season passes. Rugby is what we love, and what we want to watch.
However with this many rugby loving fanatics from NZ here (in what is AFL country anyway), I think it's wishful thinking to assume Ethiad will ever be a fortress for Aussie against the AB's.
I think you're more lightly to have a 50:50 split crowd. After all us ex-pat Kiwi's see this as a home game as well!!

Nev mate, you've hit the nail on the head. The rugby community in Victoria have been quietly simmering away watching the progress of the Rebels. It's all been positive, and continues to be positive. Come February I think we'll all be ready to explode. And yes, the foreign players mean we haven't damaged local rugby. Another yes to the value-adding with our recruiting!

I've been a Chiefs supporter since they started, having grown up in Hamilton, still have a season pass, but I was always going to support a local Melbourne Super team as this is my home now, makes no difference who they sign, even the Evil Wizard Mortlock.
